I think I prefer these to the flounsy, ‘artificially’ coloured primulas that you get in the garden centre. I love the delicate yellow of the primroses. I remember riding the Metropolitan line to London and seeing the banks laden with them. What a wonderful thing in the morning commute.
I grew up with them – being a farmer’s daughter in Oxfordshire. The cowslips will be next – and woods carpeted with bluebells. I’m with you, I prefer wild flowers to spectacular blooms. Maybe it’s the wildness in me!
