It was a wonderful opportunity to get some shots – being in a canoe. A tad worried I might drop the camera overboard! The amazing thing about the weed is the amount of wildlife it draws to it. Frogs were croaking in it, blue damsel flies were everywhere, ducks were foraging in it, and the cows were pulling up great mouthfuls and chewing happily. And it’s so pretty!
Lovely photos, but i think the wikipedia pages that lead you to believe these to be a member of the podostemacaea might be incorrect, your photographs appear to be of a Ranunculus species, an aquatic buttercup or water crowfoot, such as Ranunculus fluitans.
how extraordinary Jude, so beautiful and nutritious by the looks of things!

It’s wonderful! The frogs were croaking in patches of it and it was alive with blue damsel flies! Nature draws nature.

The flower carpet is whoa! I’d been wanting to see one as expansive as what you’ve shown here. Incredible!
